Looking for an organ teacher in Leicester?
Need a patient, friendly and professional organ tutor?
I teach
a comprehensive range of keyboard skills and performance techniques, as well
as guiding you through music theory and how to interpret music effectively.
I specialise in classical organ repertoire, and am experienced in preparing students for examinations,
music college auditions, recitals and concerts.
I cater for
students of all ages and levels of experience. I enjoy teaching both
adults and children, and always tailor lessons to the particular demands and
tastes of each individual player. Perhaps the most important lesson
for any developing organist to learn is how to practise. I will
help you to structure your practice effectively so that you get the very
best out of your time at the keyboard each week.
A typical lesson
might include:
-
physical warm-ups
-
technical exercises
-
developing good habits in posture and keyboard touch
-
understanding musical forms
-
improving your communication skills at the organ
-
learning about registration and 'orchestration' at the organ
-
finding music to suit your capabilities
-
learning about melody, harmony and improvisation
-
developing your musical literacy (sight reading)
-
polishing your performance
-
preparing for your audience!
